The Protectowire Linear Heat Detector is a specialized cable designed to sense heat along its entire length. This sensor cable consists of two steel conductors, each individually insulated with a heat-sensitive polymer. The insulated conductors are twisted together to create a spring-like pressure between them, then encased in a protective tape and finished with an outer jacket that is appropriate for the installation environment. As a fixed temperature digital sensor, Protectowire can trigger an alarm once it reaches its designated activation temperature. When this temperature is attained, the heat-sensitive polymer insulation gives way to the pressure, allowing the inner conductors to touch and generate an alarm signal. This response occurs at the first point of heat detected anywhere along the cable's length. It does not necessitate a specific length to be heated to activate the alarm, nor does it require system calibration to adjust for variations in the surrounding temperature.
