SuperDuct detectors consistently monitor airflow within the HVAC duct and trigger an alarm whenever smoke is identified. An alarm is set off when the concentration (percent obscuration) of combustion byproducts in the air sample surpasses the detector's sensitivity threshold. Air velocities as low as 100 ft/min are sufficient to ensure proper airflow into the sensor's smoke chamber through the openings in the air sampling tube, which then expels air through the exhaust tube. It is essential that SuperDuct air sampling tubes are installed with the inlet openings oriented towards the airstream. The sampling tubes can be adjusted in 45-degree increments, allowing the air holes to be aligned for installation at nearly any angle in relation to the airflow. The sampling tube can be fitted from either the duct side of the assembly or from within the sensor compartment, depending on the installer’s preference. (Note that the exhaust tube must be installed from the duct side.) The sampling tubes can be rotated in 45-degree increments to ensure that the air holes are properly aligned, facilitating installation at virtually any angle concerning the airflow.
