WG4 notification appliances are designed and rated for outdoor environments, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations on either walls or ceilings. For surface mounting in outdoor or damp locations, these devices must be installed on a 449 electrical box. In dry areas, they are compatible with standard 4-inch square electrical boxes that are 1 1?2 inches deep. If the optional WG4WTS or WG4RTS trim skirt is used, installation requires either a 449 box or a 4-inch square box with a depth of 2-1/8 inches. The Genesis WG4 horn and horn-strobe units can be mounted on walls or ceilings and oriented in any of four configurations: strobe on top, strobe on the bottom, or strobe on either side. The slim profile of Genesis devices also provides additional space behind the unit for accommodating extra wiring.
