The Series Z Notification Appliances are equipped with a convenient snap-on base designed to streamline the installation and testing of horns, strobes, and horn/strobes. This separate snap-on base can be pre-wired, allowing for comprehensive circuit testing prior to the installation of the appliance and before the walls are finished. Once all surrounding construction is finalized, the appliance can be effortlessly attached by snapping it onto the base. The base features shorting contacts that maintain circuit continuity during testing, which are permanently opened upon appliance installation. This means that if the appliance is later removed, it will trigger a trouble condition on that circuit at the control panel when circuit supervision is active. The same base is compatible with all Series Z horns, strobes, and horn/strobes, ensuring uniform installation and facilitating easy replacement if necessary. Additionally, a locking screw is provided to enhance the security of the installation. The Series Z appliances utilize the same reliable circuitry and high-efficiency optics found in ST Strobes, NS horn/strobes, and NH horns, boasting identical high-performance ratings. Wall Mount models offer field-selectable candela settings of 15/30/75/110cd and 135/185cd, while Ceiling Mount models provide settings of 15/30/75/95cd and 115/177cd. Strobe synchronization can be achieved using the 5406B sync modules, MPC-6000 panel, MPC-7000 panel, or the RSE-300 power supply with an integrated sync protocol. The Series Z appliances are recognized as “Special Applications” with panels. The base plate is safeguarded by a disposable cover, allowing for quick attachment of the appliances after wall painting is completed. The EZ Mount Universal Mounting Plate (ZBB) serves both ceiling and wall mount installations with a single plate.
